How do I get started?

After registering the first step is to establish your fishing location. Check the location page first, it is possible someone has already setup location information for the area where you fish. If not, follow the step by step directions to setup your location information.

Setting up a location is a one time effort with the ability to edit the information if needed. Whether you create a new location or use an existing one, you should go to My Account and select the location as your default location. Each new journal entry will open with the default location already highlighted. If fishing another location, be sure to set the location accordingly.

How much information do I need for a journal entry?

Tide, weather, sun/moon, and water conditions (if applicable) are pulled from the data sources associated with the location you select. All you need to enter is the location, date, start and end time, fishing partners, and notes about the trip.

Your journals are private and cannot be accessed by anyone else. If you would like to share your journals with the other fisherman on the site then you can do so by checking the Make Public box when creating the journal entry or when you are editing the entry.

You have the ability to add links to other web sites and photos of your trip in the fishing logs comment section. The image below shows the photo image options button and the associated dialog box.

The Current Conditions page is designed to provide information about the seven day trending for water height and temperature, three day tide predictions, current weather conditions, and five day forecast for any established location.

The Fishing Excursion Planner allows you to save future date tide and celestial information along with notes about your plans such as guides, lodging, marinas, and outfitters from the listings on the Directory of resources page to round out your fishing excursion plans. Come back to your planned excursions as you solidify your plans and make updates accordingly.
